About Lawrence
Lawrence Meredith is 38 and Yorkshire born and bred. He went to school in his father's hometown of Bradford and grew up in Skipton. He is married to Nanda and has two young sons, Alex, 3, and Olly, 1.
He studied Russian and French at Oxford and then joined the British civil service. He worked for the Department for International Development, notably on the Rwanda crisis in 1995/96. He now works for the European Commission in Brussels, managing a team of 12 people, whose task is to help rebuild Kosovo, part of the former Yugoslavia, devastated by war 10 years ago.
Lawrence is a committed LibDem and this year became chair of his local party in Brussels, after 10 years on the committee.
A keen hiker and birdwatcher, Lawrence has covered much of his constituency on foot, when walking the Coast-to-Coast and the Dales Way. True to his roots, Lawrence is a die-hard Bradford City supporter.
"I grew up in Yorkshire and am proud to be standing for the Liberal Democrats in Richmond. I passionately believe that Britain needs real change and that the Liberal Democrats are the only party offering a credible way out of this economic crisis. I will fight for more affordable housing and better access to hospitals and schools in the Richmond Constituency."
